DRWF Fundraising: Match funding Big Give campaign provides boost for educational events.

DRWF has reached a fundraising total of £14,834.50 following the Big Give Christmas Challenge held over a week from the end of November last year.

The annual fundraising event invites charities to have any money raised match funded by charity pledgers and a Big Give champion – and in the process doubling the amount raised.

So for one week very donation had double the impact for the charity.

We set ourselves an ambitious target to reach £7,500 in public donations and managed to achieve an amazing total of £6,957 during the week of the campaign. These donations were match funded by our amazing pledgers along with our Big Give champion, Candis Club to achieve a huge total of £14,834.50 (including Gift Aid) towards supporting DRWF’s Diabetes Wellness Event Programme.

How does the Big Give work?

A £250 supporter pledge can become a £1,000 donation when a Big Give champion doubles that donation to £500 – the sum is then match funded to make £1,000.

DRWF Community Fundraiser Karen Scott said: “We are so very grateful for all the support this campaign generates for DRWF and our thanks go out to all those who pledged and donated towards making this campaign a success.”

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the following companies and individuals who pledged their support:

  • Hicom
  • Saturn
  • Holbrooks
  • Agamatrix
  • Ian Lawson
  • KMS Telecom
  • Home PC Advisor Ltd
  • John Alahouzos (DRWF trustee)
  • Rache Bowie Design

DRWF would not be able to participate in this amazing opportunity to raise funds without the help from these pledgers, and we are most grateful to them for supporting this campaign.

DRWF Wellness Event Programme

The money raised from the recent Big Give fundraising campaign will go towards DRWF’s award-winning educational events for people living with all forms of diabetes.

These events are run in collaboration with expert healthcare professionals working in diabetes care to inspire and empower people to stay well and reduce the risk of complications.

DRWF Educational Event Co-ordinator Lee Calladine said “Our Diabetes Wellness Event Programme is one of our most important objective activities. It enables us to raise public awareness and provide vital educational support to people living with all forms of diabetes, their family members, carers, and the specialist healthcare professionals that care for them.

“Through the event programme we aim to inform, inspire, and empower people by increasing their understanding, learning new skills, and improving their daily diabetes management to better take control of their health and wellbeing.

“Without the generous donations from the public these events would not be possible, so we are incredibly grateful to the Big Give and everyone that supported it for doing their bit to help us carry on this life-changing and incredible work for so many people that rely on it.”
