Early bird registration open now for 2024 sponsored walk event supporting diabetes research.

Following a successful second annual Diabetes Dawdle recently, DRWF is pleased to announce details of next year’s event.

The DRWF Diabetes Dawdle sponsored walk will take place on Saturday, 28th September – and early bird registration is open now.

The third annual healthy walking event for people living with diabetes and their carers and supporters offers two different distance routes (4 and 7 miles) along the seafront in Portsmouth.

All participants receive a DRWF T-shirt and a medal for taking part – and we would like to encourage supporters to get involved, invite their friends and family, and make next year the biggest event to date!

Dogs are also for the welcome for the walk, and the routes are also accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs.

Parking is available nearby to the starting point, and there are three public toilets stops along the route.

The flat and accessible route starts in Old Portsmouth before taking you on a journey through historic Southsea.

You will pass landmarks such as the Square Tower, built in 1494 during the reign of Henry VII and the Royal Garrison Church, built in around 1212 by the Bishop of Winchester.

You will have breath-taking views out across the Solent for large sections of the walk, passing both of Portsmouth's piers (the perfect opportunity to stop for an ice cream!). Before circling back and finishing your sponsored walk with stunning views of the Spinnaker Tower and Gunwharf Quays; proudly wearing your completion medal.

Virtual walkers

If Portsmouth is too far for you to get to, this year you can walk wherever suits you best as a virtual entry in our Diabetes Dawdle.

Choose your own location and distance and receive all the same benefits as our walkers attending the event in Portsmouth.

We will send you your T-shirt and medal, and best of all you will still be supporting young people and their families across the UK living with all types of diabetes.

Registration for the event includes your entry, complimentary bottle of water and sealed flapjack, DRWF T-shirt and a finishers medal.

We ask for £50 minimum sponsorship per person or £75 per family.

The money you raise will support people across the UK living with all types of diabetes and ensure we can continue to deliver on our research and educational commitments. Your involvement means that, together, we are investing in a brighter future for people with diabetes.
