Join The Royal Society of Medicine for this insightful masterclass, a collaborative forum, uniting healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, and caregivers as they explore innovative approaches to address the substantial burden of diabetic neuropathy.
1 in 2 people with diabetes are likely to be affected by peripheral neuropathy during their lifetime. It impacts on mobility, causes chronic pain and increases the risk of infection, as well as costing the NHS £252 million each year.
The masterclass will focus on key aspects of diabetic neuropathy including introducing new diagnostic tests, emphasising early intervention benefits, exploring novel pain management strategies, and best practices for foot ulcer management. Additionally, participants will gain insight into amputation and effective pain management for phantom limb cases.
This inclusive approach empowers individuals with diabetes and neuropathy to better manage their condition, contributing to collective efforts in reducing the impact on both individuals and healthcare systems. Creating a platform for attendees to connect, and network with peers, healthcare professionals and researchers, leading to the sharing of best practices and access to support networks.
By attending the masterclass, you will:
- Explore the progression of diabetic neuropathy, identifying risk factors and preventive measures to mitigate severe outcomes.
- Emphasise the benefits of early intervention in diabetic neuropathy to prevent complications and improve patient outcomes.
- Gain unique insights into implementing best practices and embracing cutting-edge treatments and diagnostic tests, contributing to alleviating the burdens faced by both individuals and the healthcare system.
